Getting Things Done

Below there are 4 tables in the Getting Things Done section.

• The first is the Daily In Tray. This is the most commonly used table and contains all of your life’s unsorted TODOS.
• You should start by first doing a brain dump. Think of all the things in your life that you need to get done, and start entering them in the In-tray below. Take as long as you need. You’ll feel much better once everything is captured.
• As the days / weeks go by inevitably different obligations / todos will come up for you. For example maybe it’s 12pm on Monday and you realise your bike has a flat tire. Just hit the new button in the Daily in Tray to create a new todo titled ‘Take Bike to repair shop’.
• Periodically - ideally once a day, you should process what is in your daily in-tray.
  • If you want the TODO to be done now set the due date to be today. If it’s due in the future, set the date forwards in the future.
  • Review Frequency / Last Review: These are for reoccurring todos such as 1) Doing a monthly budget or 2) weekly grocery shop. 3) Make sure that you’ve texted all of your mates back by the end of each week. Here you can select the Review Frequency and then add when was the last time you Reviewed the TODO. Behind the scenes for reoccurring TODOs they will be marked as overdue once enough time as passed passed on your selected review frequency. At this point, the TODO will pop up in your Over Due table below.
  • Context: you can add some labels here for additional context on the todo.
  • Every TODO needs to have a priority - once you set the priority level, the TODO will leave you’re in tray and it will eventually go to one of two tables 1) The OverDue table 2) The Non Urgent table.
  • The Overdue table is where you can look through your outstanding TODOs to see which ones you can currently perform.
  • The Non Urgent table allows you to see what TODOs would you like to eventually complete that are not time sensitive.
  • The Recently done table allows you to see what you recently completed.
